Damselflies are easier to approach either at dawn or at dusk but, even if they usually don’t fly away, they’re still aware of what’s happening around them. Then, if you’re spotted, they adopt a funny behavior which consist in trying to hide behind their support by moving around it. This emerald damselfly (Lestes sponsa) has however much too big eyes and, like any other damselfly of this family, keeps its wings half open.
