This is a natural light shot taken in a southwest window in our family room.Time
This was shot in the afternoon to take advantage of the window lightLighting
I'm a big fan of natural light, and try to use it any chance I get. Just happened to be a good day for window light. There was a small amount of editing to lighten the shadows in Light Room, and a BW conversion from the color shot.Equipment
Hand held Canon MKIII 24-105 lens,natural light.Inspiration
I shoot the muse all the time, and we buy outfits just for that reason. This was a black shawl we recently purchased for a prop. There is a whole series , but this was one of our favorites. Just liked the shadows from the light making the mood.Editing
As LR allows for black and white conversion, I used the adjustments in the conversion and did a slight lighten in the shadow areas and darkened the window area around the model. In my camera bag
Canon 5D MKIII, assorted lenses and a 7D.I use a 24-105 as my go to, but have 50mm prime,80mm and 150 from my Mamiya 645 with converters,100-400,100mm Macro,70-300 tele, and my old F1 glass with converters.Feedback
I always look for natural light, and with a window, a white reflector comes in handy some times to reflect light back on the subject. Cloudy days give flatter light, and that helps, but you may have to turn up the ISO to achieve a good shot.
