There are few trees in Iceland, so when we came across this forest reserve at the side of the road, we had to stop to explore. This area was fenced off and there was a turnstile to enter the reserve. The area had clearly been managed, since there were several stumps evident throughout the grove. Snow was several inches deep outside the trees, but the evergreen canopy was dense enough that only a dusting got through to the forest floor.
