Location
This was captured in an underground tunnel (patient tunnel) of an abandoned state hospital / asylum in Pennsylvania. It was pitch black in the tunnels, temperature was about 85°.Time
The time of day isn't really that important since it taken in a pitch black underground tunnel, but if memory serves correctly, it was about 3:30pm.Lighting
Because there is no natural light that reaches these tunnels, and electricity has long been turned off to this location, I used a single Paul C. Buff Alien Bee 800 on a light stand about 60 feet away from the model down around the curve of the tunnel. No light modifier used, to achieve the shadow with the sharp edge on the wall. It was set to 1/2 power.Equipment
Canon 7D, 24-70mm lens, Manfrotto tripod, (1) Alien Bee 800.Inspiration
We were going for nude silhouettes, but upon moving around I noticed the shadow on the wall, and we decided to try a few against the way. This is one of a few great captures against the wall.Editing
I used light-room to push the shadows a little darker. In my camera bag
Canon 7D, Canon 5D Mark II, Canon Sl1 (for capturing video of behind the scenes). Lenses 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8, 14mm Fisheye, 18-55mm standard kit lens. Flashes Canon 580 EX II, Yongnuo speedlights & Triggers. Lots of AA batteries, Paul C. Buff mini-vagabond, zip ties, wire cutters, Manfrotto mini-table top tripod (for extreme low angles).Feedback
