Behind The Lens

Location

North East Land, Sea and Air Museums, Washington Road, Sunderland SR5 3HZ, UK. I had an appointment nearby, and looking around I found this museum.

Time

I waited the museum to open in the morning in labor day, so there was only me in the museum!

Lighting

Almost no clouds, so you expect high contrast between lights and shadows.

Equipment

My Nexus 5 android phone with OpenCamera app to take DNG shot. I had also my lumix fz38 but with a fisheye and I didn't want that lens effect.

Inspiration

All the rust and texture the bus brings!

Editing

I did use Snapseed to process DNG file: structure to reveal more texture, detail to make it sharper, less saturation, and finally a film grain filter.

In my camera bag

Back then only that fz38 with the fisheye, but now I have a very different equipment: my X-T10 (awesome!) with three batteries, the regular 18-55, a kamlan 50mm f1.1 (I'm loving that lens for everything), a 64Gb sdcard (and 8Gb sdcard just in case), a RGB torch light for indoor/night effects, remote shutter (wired, not wireless), rain protection bag, and attached to the bag a robust enough €20 tripod. Everything in a cheap Amazon basics backpack.

Feedback

Everything old, rusted and abandoned has good textures to make a shot worth it. In vehicles I think it brings more value to the picture as it shows there are a long history behind.
