Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard in Salem NH. I've been lucky enough to have Eastern Bluebirds visit almost daily for 4 - 5 years. They are here all year, even in the cold winter months.

Time

This photo was taken mid December 2015. It was around 10:30 in the morning.

Lighting

The light was really nice that day allowing for even soft light.

Equipment

Nikon D7100, Tamron 150-600 on a tripod.

Inspiration

The bird landed on a perch set up close to my office window and not far from a feeder station, I often take photos of different birds as they land on this perch.

Editing

Yes, I do minor adjustments using a software package called FastStone. This image was cropped and adjustments made to highlights, saturation, contrast, sharpening and noise reduction.

In my camera bag

My current and most used camera is the Nikon D500. I primarily use the Nikkor 500mm F5.6 PF lens. I also use the Tamron 18-400, Tamron 150-600, Sigma 28-250mm, Tokina 11-16mm.

Feedback

Patience and put natural looking perches near your bird feeders.
