I worked in Johannesburg for a year, and during this time I was fortunate enough to travel to several fascinating African countries both for work and in my spare time.
One long weekend, I decided to do a solo road trip around Lesotho. I hit the road, hilariously just me and a little Ford Figo driving through the stunning Drakensburg Mountains. I’ve rarely seen roads so quiet, with barely a vehicle. Lesotho itself still feels authentically traditional. Journey through the Mountain Kingdom and you’ll pass through villages of dome-shaped houses made from natural materials, see boys herding flocks of sheep or men travelling around by pony wrapped in a Basotho blanket - and get plenty of stares back in return.
I’d stopped to look at the view and take some photos over the lake north east of Katse, when these two gentlemen approached by horseback from the opposite direction. We couldn’t really communicate but they were amused to meet me, and happily posed for their picture.
These my favourite and most memorable pictures from that trip.

This is an awesome photo! Not only have you captured the authentic nature of your human subject, but his horse and the back drop are great too! Great capture!
