Location
This was taken on the Holyhead breakwater on the North Wales coast during Storm Doris.Time
I was on site from 11am until around 3pm when I took this shot, one of the last of the day for me. The camera at this point was getting too hard too operate with all my gear soaked and my hands numb.Lighting
The lighting turned from flat to fantastic whenever the sun popped from behind the thick clouds, thankfully when this person and the Wave behind him lined up, there was some sunlight lighting up the crest of the wave.Equipment
I was using a Pentax K-1 with a 28-105 DFA lens, handheld as the wind was too strong for me to worry about setting up a tripod.Inspiration
I saw this guy walking back and forth looking to the right and occasionally at the waves. He seemed to have something bigger on his mind and not so enthralled with the storm like everyone around him was. I went to give him my business card and tell him that I might have an interesting photograph of him and found out that he was worried about what the storm was going to do to his beloved boat.Editing
I only shoot raw so some photoshop to bring out the detail in the waves and some processing to add depth the contrast. There was a lot of mist and so much spray everywhere so the colour and contrast were even more so de-saturated.In my camera bag

Use a high ISO to try freeze the waves. The detail in the water can be fascinating and very captivating. Waterproofs and dry cloths are essential.
