The stare

During my first visit to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in December 2016, I came across this male, just finishing a drink of water at the waterhole.

Usually very skittish, but in the extreme heat of the Kgalagadi, this ram took respite thereof in the shade to catch his breath.

Kgalagadi Lions mating. The sheer action and force of his front paw as he completes the copulation act is spectacular.

Addo Elephant Family

Males sing year-round. Repetitive singing, followed by a rapid wing vibration.

If you wait quietly and long enough they will come for a drink of water.
