The photo was taken in the Solomon Guggenheim Museum in NYC during a beautiful trip in USA two years ago.Time
I remeber that the photo was taken in a particular day during which my wife and I had to solve a series of complicated family problems In Italy on the phone from 5th avenue. Was a bad day, very complicated. But finally the beauty of Frank LLoyd Wright architecture has been able to put me in a good mood and inspire the shot.Lighting
The skylight inside the building makes natural light beautiful. Taking advantage of such lighting is really a privilege. Almost as Nadar did in Paris. The shot was taken without any flash or additional artificial lighting. These particular lighting conditions have made the image soft, in accordance with the softness of the architectural curves.Equipment
This was shot with Nikon D3200 and Nikkor zoom lens 18-105 mm. Parameters was focal 24 mm, f/4.5, time 1/40 ISO 640Inspiration
I am an architect and I believe that Wright is one of the best architects in history. I really love his projects and the quality of his buildings. It was the first time I entered the Guggenheim and I was really breathless for the beauty of the spiral space, for the quality of the light, for the perfect acoustics. Then I looked up to try to embrace all the space at once. It was impossible to make the feeling of being there. The image is as close to my feelings of that day.Editing
Post production in photoshop has been very limited. I only transformed the shot into black and white and worked a bit with tones and contrasts, trying to highlight the geometry of the architectural space and the graphic design of the window, without taking away the softness of curved lines and surfaces. In my camera bag
My equipment is normally very essential. My Nikon D3200, my zoom lens 18-105, some filter, an additional flash that however rarely use (only when I have to take pictures in the interior on commission). Replacement SD card and rechargeable batteries. but above all, always, open eyes, attention and pleasure for beautiful things.Feedback
The only advice I can give is to love what we watch, look at it carefully, not be in a hurry, and shoot as if we still have an expensive film in the camera, so as to give value to every shot. Last advice. Don’t use Google Translator for important documents like this. :-)
