Location
This Photo was taken about 100 yards into a snowy grain field on a very cold day outside of Castlemen, Ontario in CanadATime
This photo was taken around 9:00 in the morningLighting
Lighting was completely natural; we were lucky to have a clear but very cold day.Equipment
Canon 7D Mark II, 500 mm fixed lens on tripod, ISO 350 F8 shutter speed of 1/2500.Inspiration
Snowy owls have long been at the top of my bucket list. This was taken at a photography clinic specific to snowy owls. Contact Marc Latriomoille at www.wingstretch.com for more information. Great guideEditing
Processed entirely in Lightroom. Not much needed to be done since it was such a beautiful day. Adjusted the white balance to remove a small bit of blue in the snow and that’s about it.In my camera bag
I carry three lenses and bodies at all time for wildlife photography. 2 Cannon 7D Mark II bodies (crop sensors) one Sony A7III (full frame). Lenses : Canon 500 mm f4.0 LIS II USM, canon 100-400 mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM, Canon 24-105 F/L IS USM, Sony 24-70 F2.8 GM, Canon extender EF 1.4X, Kase filters for landscape and long exposures. Induro BHL2 ball head and Induro carbon fiber tripod and a Wimberly sidekick. It is lighter than a full gimble head and better for travel. I only carry one of the short lenses at a time, depending on forecasted weather. Nice days I take only canon bodies and glass but for low light the Sony body and lens can’t be beat.Feedback
Lots and lots of patience, a tripod with a gimble head, a camera body that shoots at least 10 FPS and the longest lens you can get,
