Behind The Lens

Location

The image was shot in Newtown, Connecticut

Time

I took a drive specifically to shoot this image in the midmorning light during a crisp winter day. The overcast sky made a perfect backdrop to the mood of the image

Lighting

I used the natural light coming from the east to create a more pronounced feel to the image

Equipment

I shot the image with a Canon 60D with a Tamron 28-75 mm lens, handheld, no flash

Inspiration

I had noticed this place with little interest for some time but I was urged to shoot it by another photographer who didn't capture it with any depth or feel and thought it might prove a bit of a challenge for me

Editing

The image was untouched- no need as it came out with just the right balance of light and shadow

In my camera bag

I carry 2 cameras- the 60D and a Canon T3i with a Tamron 10-24 mm lens, spare cards and batteries, and a Speedlite I have a gorilla pod in my bag just in case!

Feedback

Looking for the right time of day for the desired light and the weather factor is a bit of homework worth the time
