My friend's cat was charging her solar batteries on the back step of the house. She would look everywhere but at the camera. I finally got down and laid flat on the floor with the camera, and then, and only then did she look directly at the camera. It was as if I had to assume the most humiliating position before she would allow her portrait to be taken.
