The last few days have been nice. In fact, tomorrow will be in the 70s. Odd for February.

Max and I have taken a few new trails over the past few days. The spot we typically go is a winding 2.25 mile walk along a scenic road atop one of the spokes of the Palmer Park bluff, not far from home, and smack in the middle of the city. This portion of the park is actually a horseshoe canyon at the top of the bluff, and hosts many trails from easy to difficult. One of the side trails traverses the eastern side of the bluff, and leads to the Edna Mae Bennett trail that eventually lands at the bottom of the canyon near the horse stables.

It was at this spot that I declared I had overdressed. I was not even dressed for Colorado's typical February near 0 temps. but the 50s and 60s can be cold enough for a heavy top over a couple of layers, and that's what I was wearing while nearly everyone else was in shorts and t-shirts.

From this point, near the stables (the breeze was northerly, and there was no mistaking the stable on our southern flank), another trail leads up the western side of the canyon, and eventually to the lookout point where we stop for water and the view of the city, Pike's Peak, and Cheyenne Mountain.

Max had run a bit ahead of me, around the switchback and stood to gaze out across the canyon and to the stables now below our position. The sun was about to set and lit up the top of the bluff as I looked up at Max standing beneath the canyon's surrounding rock face, the clouds and the blue sky above.
