Wow this is a courageous shot. I know exactly what you were after but this time it did not work out and believe me I've taken something similar with the same result ie you subject in the background is out of focus. If you are going to attemt this type of shot, which is VERY difficult, you have to think about your cameras focus point. So if I was planning this type of image I would set my camera up on spot focus so that at that point the subject no matter what is happening about it would be hopefully :-) in solid focus and everything about it in soft blur which would make my subject stand out even more. As it is now you have the chest of the middle sheep sort of in focus but the sheep dog is not. Please consider experimenting with manual everything settings and make notes lots of notes and lots of practise cause you have a great eye for a great image.
