Behind The Lens

Location

Some time ago, I spent a few years in Delhi, the capital of India. The Old Delhi bazaar is one of my favourite places where I used to come again and again to inhale its power and vibrant spirit. This photo was taken from a balcony on the second floor in one of the buildings. There was a shop office or something like that, and some people let us come in and take photos of the street.

Time

That happened in the evening, around 6 pm, an hour before the sunset, when the light becomes golden and the shadows long and purple. The Old Delhi streets are bustling by that time, literally no space for an apple to drop.

Lighting

The golden hour tells everything for itself — the soft low light of a tired sun shining through the thick summer smog of Delhi.

Equipment

Nikon D3000, 55 mm.

Inspiration

In India, everything inspires you, just one needs to keep eyes open. Life there is so intense and bright that it's hard to pass it by without attention.

Editing

No, only basic colour and brightness adjustment.

In my camera bag

I'm not a pro, so only a camera... and a headscarf to blend with the local crowd.

Feedback

You need to be brave enough to wander through places like Old Delhi.
