Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo in IJlst, a small town near Sneek, the Netherlands. The photo was taken from a jetty opposite de mill. The jetty is gone, there is a building on the spot now.

Time

It was at 18:42 . It was taken on the 23 of January 2016.

Lighting

It was quite a wait for the blue hour and the moment that the ambient light matched the artificial light of the mill. It was cold..

Equipment

The photo was taken with my Canon 7-D and a 15-85 lens. I used a tripod for this photo.

Inspiration

As a matter of fact I wasn't going for this photo. I was looking out for wildlife, but when it became too dark for that I decided to visit the mill on my way back home. Ik knew it was picturesque and thought it was worth a try.

Editing

The photo was a little too dark, so I brightened and sharpened it a little. I enhanced the blues a bit.

In my camera bag

Now Ik switched to Fujifilm. I use the XT-4, a 10-24 F4, 16-55 2.8, 56mm 1.2 and the 100-400mm. The switch was a great choice! The fuji works very intuïtive and fast, weighs much less and the colors are beautiful!

Feedback

Be there! Even if you get no shots at all, it's worth it to be outside and enjoy the scenery. You don't get anything from your couch. Youtube is a great source of knowledge, but the only way to put the knowledge to use is to go out and practice! Put the camera aside now and then and don't forget to enjoy!
