Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in Great Blakenham, near Ipswich in suffolk.

Time

It was taken just after 4 in the afternoon.

Lighting

Taken in november, mid afternoon, the sun was fairly low in the sky but with that pre sunset warm glow.

Equipment

I took this with my Nikon d 7000 on a tripod, if i remember correctly the lens was the Sigma 17-50 with the hood on.

Inspiration

I was out taking shots to document the flooding near ipswich where i live, and came across this scene. the light was lovely and the reflections on the water were good, i liked the clouds in the sky too. It took a bit of wandering round to get the best angle to get the elements just where i wanted them, but i am pleased with the end result.

Editing

I did very little in the way of processing, just tweeked the contrast a bit and took the exposure down about half a stop.

In my camera bag

This varies but i don't carry a lot, one body, one or two lenses and some basic filters. Oh and a spare battery.

Feedback

There are no hard and fast rules i follow, do try to get out at both ends of the day, watch the weather forcast, take a tripod as this helps a great deal, both in getting rid of camera shake and with composition. Use the lowest iso you can to keep noise in check. Most of all get out shoot and have fun with your camera, remember shoot for you !
