Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in my front garden. I had a few foxes visiting, including Mel here. Her full name is Caramel. I had also Midnight (very dark legs and tail) and Goupil what is an old French word for fox. They were very accustomed to me and my family. They will get out of the bushes and wait in the lawn as soon they heard the car coming to the driveway.

Time

Every evening/ night in the summertime, earlier in winter.

Lighting

Obviously the light changed depending on the time of year and time in the evening. At first, I used high Iso because I was afraid that a flash will spook them. But it appeared that as long that the food was there, they didn't care much!

Equipment

I can't remember which camera I was using for that picture. I started with a second hand Fujipix, then bought a Canon 70D. I think this was with the fuji, as Mel was very confident and came very close to me, 2/3 feet.

Inspiration

Opportunity! Nothing else!

Editing

Not much, probably exposure and contrast!?

In my camera bag

That was then! Now it is much different! My first love is Macro photography, so I carry now a Canon Mark IV with a Sigma 105 2.8 and a couple of rings, and my Canon 70D with a 50mm 2.8, just in case!

Feedback

PATIENCE! Then you will have to try different lenses, ISOs, but patience is the key, it does get easier as the fox, (or other wild animals) get to trust you! And come as earlier in the day as possible! Good luck!
