I took this photo in Hakone National Park in Japan, just below Mt. Fuji. I was exploring the park and there was mist all around us. Up ahead of me on the path was a couple holding hands.Time
I took this photo on November 23, 2010. It was about 5:15pm. The lighting was perfect. It was that gold horizontal light you get towards the evening as the sun is getting low in the sky. We were at the top of a tall hill and there was fog and mist all around making it look like the couple ahead of me was walking into the clouds.Lighting
The autumn tones and eerie but beautiful mist really complimented the lighting. The way the water in the air catches the light made for a great shot.Equipment
It was actually the first camera I had ever had. Just a small compact Olympus u7010,S7010 digital camera. f/4, 1/100 sec., ISO 64, no flash.Inspiration
It was just such a peaceful and still scene. I thought it was sweet how the couple was just enjoying themselves and the atmosphere and I had to capture the moment.Editing
I adjusted the lighting and warmth a bit but otherwise left it alone. In my camera bag
Now I always have my Nikon and a 35mm-200mm Tamron lens. I do a lot of nature photography and the range of focus lengths allows me to be prepared for anything that I might cross paths with.Feedback
Pay attention to the weather! This photo was a lucky shot as far as the weather is concerned but the time of day definitely influences the lighting and the weather can set the mood. Know what you want your photo to portray and then decide what light and weather will suit that best.
