How about taking the picture at 2 different times? I would set the camera on a tripod, take the picture with a high sun, and later the same picture with a lower sun, combine those in a way that the light still seems real in the new composite. Would work best with an object on the elevated part, close to the fold, casting a shadow on the "normal" part during the high sun light. I hope I explained my idea correctly in english :) Good luck with the next one.
