My first attempt at astro photography. I'd been wanting to do if to a while but had been put off somewhat when reading comments online about the expensive equipment some claimed I would need. However, a fellow photog shared an astro shot he had taken with his son's basic camera and kit lens, and that inspired me to have a go. This is a 100 shot composite, using a D3100, kit 18-55mm lens, 18mm focal length, f-3.5, ISO1600, 10sec exposures. The clouds began to appear around halfway through the series but I decided to continue, so pleased I did.
