This tree in my yard is a japanese red maple and the wild birds usually use it as a stopover before raiding my feeders. Normally where we live in Tennessee it doesn't get this cold. We had had an ice storm during the night and a light snow the next day. The ice clear coated the red branches of the maple and the birds had to hang on to the cold branches while the snow continued to fall...
