Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Struve Slough near my home. I visit this area often and this day I ate lunch on a bench near a walking path. As I was eating lunch these two White Pelicans came by. I find that some of my best photos was juat being in the right place at the right time.

Time

Early afternoon.

Lighting

It was a very sunny day.

Equipment

For birding photography I was using a Canon 70D with a 400mm Canon lens. I usually have a tripod although this was a handheld shot.

Inspiration

I enjoy shooting birds and I've always liked White Pelicans. This image presents them with a certain grace.

Editing

I did process the raw image to increase contrast and added a little saturation. It is very close to the way I saw it in camera.

In my camera bag

For birding photography I was using a Canon 70D with a 400mm Canon lens. I usually have a tripod although this was a handheld shot. I also carry filters, additional cards and batteries.
