My first visit (4 January 2017) of the new year to my favourite place (Pilanesberg), I decided to search for leopard along the 3 major rocky outcrops (each about 200-300m apart from one another along Mankwe Way. This has proven to be a good "hunting ground" for me when it comes to beautiful leopard sightings. I took my time searching each and every copy thoroughly but did not find what I was looking for. Instead of carrying on with Mankwe Way I decided to make a U-turn and try again. Same recipe, same result and just as I could see the junction where Mankwe Way meet the main Kubu Drive, I heard the call of a pied crow. I stopped to observe the behavior and saw the crow swooping down to the tall grass.....something was bothering him....it must be one of the cat species! I reversed my vehicle to get in line with the area and started scanning the grass. The crow came swooping in again and there he was!!! A beautiful young male leopard in a tree! It pays to learn and listen to the clues Mother Nature have to offer to reveal her hidden treasures.
