Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken during a one week tour through Lofoten Islands, Norway. The location is called Nusfjord.

Time

I think it was 3 or 4 p.m. when we stopped for a short stay, drinking a cup of coffee and taking some pictures.

Lighting

It was cloudy, not so much light indeed, but considering the time, I definitely prefer a weather like this instead of sun shining. When your holidays is dedicated primarily to photography, I think these are the best conditions to shot. And if sky is covered by clouds it could be even better for long expo pictures like this.

Equipment

I used a Canon 60D, Tokina 11-16 and of course my hated/loved at the same time tripod, so fundamental for landscape pictures. I wanna spent a little few words for the lens, absolutely great for capturing a great angle of vision and almost unbeatable in sunset times.

Inspiration

I was captured by the perspective just in front of me and by the essential compo. I think from this spot I had the best light for the scene.

Editing

Only a little, just for hiding some speckles caused by drizzle and for increasing contrast and lighting. I also increased a bit clarity.

In my camera bag

I generally bring the camera, tripod, 11-16 mm and 70-200 mm lens, but in the last 6 months I can bring also the last new entry Tamron 24-70 mm, a very useful lens. I think this equipment is quite complete and versatile for landscape photography.

Feedback

I think the best for this kind of pictures is equipment, light conditions but there's one thing that could make the difference...You are not to be in a hurry, You should take the right time to choose location, pov and composition...You should consider to be like you were fishing!
