These houses used to be occupied along Maori Road. This is where all Maori people in Morven, South Canterbury, New Zealand lived. In those times, if you lived on Maori Road you were a second class citizen. You were not allowed to speak your native language, if you did it was beaten out of you. These houses stand, serving as reminders to not let our language and culture become abandoned.
