This folly is known as King Alfred's Tower or Stourton Tower. Construction began in 1769 and was completed in 1772. Standing at 49 meters (160ft) high and with an estimated 1.2 million bricks to build its 84cm (2ft 9in) strong Flemish bond walls. It is situated at the north western edge of the Stourhead estate in Wiltshire, England
