Behind The Lens

Location

in my back garden in Canterbury New Zealand

Time

Mid afternoon in Autumn

Lighting

Nice natural afternoon sunlight about mid afternoon in Autumn

Equipment

Finepix HS10 HS11 with fixed lens on macro

Inspiration

one of the birds was injured and not flying very far from the tree and the other kept close to it. They were eating the old apples on the tree. It took a while for them to get used to me, just very slowly taking small steps while taking photos, eventually I was standing right under them. I got lots of lovely images of them eating and flying from branch to branch, but this was definitely my favourite

Editing

no, not even cropping as I was able to get close enough to them

In my camera bag

Now I have an Olympus, 2 lenses, flash, bean bags for stabilisation

Feedback

patience, take very small steps towards them with the camera up taking photos so the birds get used to you and the camera, if they fly up higher into the tree, stop moving and wait, they should come back lower
