Location
This photo was taken on New Years Eve 2016 in the middle of Death Valley, CA. We had just finished exploring a old mining cave and when we exited, this was our lovely view.Time
We explored most of the morning and when we had finished the caves, it was early afternoon.Lighting
It was overcast most of the day, there was something about the way that the light was reflecting off the shadows and the blue of the overcast clouds that enriched the shadowing and coloring.Equipment
I had my Canon T3i and an 18-55 lens. An older camera that I still enjoy shooting on and teaching inspiring photographers in my family with.Inspiration
After being in an atmosphere as enclosed as it gets, a cave, I simply reacted on the feeling of being released into a vast world from the mouth of the cave. The tracks ending at the edge symbolized the unknown to me, as scary as it can be, it’s also beautiful.Editing
I bumped up the contrast a bit, but that’s about it.In my camera bag
I now carry a Canon 6D with a 50mm lens and 24-105mm.Feedback
I whole-heartedly encourage photographers to utilize the lighting naturally given to them at the time of shutter.
