This hawk had received rehabilitation at a Raptor center in west central Iowa. I was in attendance when it was released and watched it fly away and light in a distant tree--seemingly to check orientation. It lighted on a branch, looked back and turned to look at the open field, as shown in this picture, and took off. A free bird. (this shot is posted right out of the camera)
