Behind The Lens

Location

Peters Valley, Delaware Water Gap

Time

afternoon

Lighting

open shade

Equipment

Lumix GX8 40-140, hand held

Inspiration

The "real' photo is vb.bb_02, black and white infra red, Lumix GX7 590 infra red converted camera. I wanted to illustrate how infra red 'sees' things so this was a comparison photo. I have no idea what is the plant, where the leaf met the stem was a perfect cut out for her heck. The plant clump was full of 'Daddy Long Legs' spiders which did not make her happy, her expression!

Editing

This is just out of the camera

In my camera bag

I travel light, my days of lugging a heavy bag of equipment are over, The two Lumixs mentioned above, wide angle zoom, fast prime

Feedback

Because we can't see infra red light, learn what things absorb and reflect IR light. But every photo can be a surprise. In general, set the white balance to something neutral like green grass. Learn to use the histogram for exposure since the light meter cant read IR, the histogram can insure a balance of tones' You can start using an IR filter on your camera but because it blocks light, it's like composing with the lens cap on. You need to compose, put the filter on, take the photo and bracket. Because the filter is opaque a tripod is needed, exposure of maybe 1/2 -1 second, any movement will be blurred.
