Location
This photo was taken in my flower garden in my backyard in Edmonton, Alberta. I have many lilies in my yard and one of my favourite ones is the Tiger Lily.Time
It was late afternoon just after a rain shower at 5:00pm. I went outside to look at the flowers to see how the raindrops were clinging to them. I looked at my Tiger Lilies and saw the raindrops hugging the petals. I took a number of photos so that later I could chooseLighting
I wanted the flower to be the centre of the photo so the background light is greyish with indistinct circles. The top of the flower is lighter reflecting the sun coming out from behind the clouds.Equipment
This photo was taken with only a Nikon DX 90 and 18-105mm lens.Inspiration
I'm an amateur photographer and I like to experiment with my Nikon by taking photos of many subjects, trees, flowers, landscapes, water, objects, people, action shots, etc. On this day I saw many lilies in my garden with water droplets on them. This particular lily caught my eye with it's beauty and freshness after a recent rain shower. Also the way the lily captures the droplets made it a compelling subject to photograph.Editing
After I uploaded this photo to my collection on my computer I cropped it so that the lily is the main focus. In my camera bag
In my camera bag I have my Nikon DX 90 camera and my flash. I'm planning to buy a 16-300mm lens in the near future so I can zoom in closer to my subjects.Feedback
I would advise photographers to step outside just after it has rained and look closely at flowers to see if there are raindrops clinging to the petals. Choose one that especially displays the raindrops in a unique way that enhances the flower. Take photos at different angels so that later you can choose the one that pleases you. Also, photograph more than one flower to increase the likelihood of an exquisite photo you will be proud of.
