Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from one of the bridges downtown Chicago.

Time

I took this probably around 10 or 11pm.

Lighting

The lighting was tricky being at night time but then also having the light pollution from the city lights. Trying not to over expose areas while trying not to under expose other areas.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D3200, 70mm -200mm lens. I didn't have my tripod so I had the camera strap around my neck and set the camera on the cement wall of the bridge. I had to make sure to keep it steady but all be very careful it didn't fall into the river.

Inspiration

My friends and I had a girls weekend in Chicago there was 7 of us that went. We were suppose to go to the bar that night but everyone was tired except me and my friend Brittany. She also does photography and we both tool our cameras on the trip just in case. Her and I decided to go out and take pictures. We were standing on the bridge and I remember thinking wow such a beautiful night sky line, I loved the color in the sky.

Editing

I did have to do some post processing because of the difderent lighting issues. Thankfully I was able to do that because of my Photoshop training.

In my camera bag

I normally carry my camera body, two different lenses, extra batteries, battery chargers, extra SD card, my flash, and something to clean my lens.

Feedback

Take your time. Keep the camera steady. Try different settings and different angles. Don't be afraid to climb up or lay down on the ground for different perspective otherwise you might miss out on amazing shot!
