Wanted to capture some foliage in the early morning light, so headed north on Route 23 (NJ) to find some. En route I saw some fog off to my left in the distance. Getting closer I saw it was coming off the reservoir. I parked my car off to the side of the highway & ran across the northbound & the southbound lanes to get to the end for some pictures. It was bitter cold that morning, but gutted it out to get several shots. Decided to submit this particular, because it showed the fog lifting above the water exposing a little of the foliage highlighted by the morning sun. Thanks for viewing.

Location
Oak Ridge Reservoir in New Jersey on Route 23. I was traveling north, but this was on the southbound side.Time
It was early on a Saturday. 30 degrees out I remember. It was a little before 7:30am. I like going out early and I was heading north to a place called High Point in New Jersey. It was about an hour drive away. This stop was maybe 20 minutes into the trip.Lighting
Just a beautiful cold sunny morning.Equipment
Shot it with my camera at the time (that I still have) a Canon PowerShot SX130IS. Basically a point and shoot camera. I knew nothing about exposure settings. This was shot in Auto mode.Inspiration
I saw a rising fog off in a distance as I was driving and with the morning light it looked really cool. Especially over the reservoir. So I made an unplanned stop to capture it.Editing
None! At the time I took this I had no idea about editing or processing. I was just a point and shoot photographer at this stage with really no knowledge of what I was doing per se'.In my camera bag
When I captured this pic all I had was my camera at the time. Now of course with a little more of a clue photography wise I do carry things with me, but when I did this...nothing but the camera.Feedback
This was a totally spontaneous and unplanned capture. I was driving along and saw this view. I was able to stop and cross the opposite side of the highway safely to get this. So I guess if I can offer advice, it's to be spontaneous. If something catches your eye and you can safely stop and capture it...GO FOR IT!
