Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Richmond Park, Greater London

Time

It was taken very early, just as the sun was rising above the tree line

Lighting

The lighting is the early morning sun being diffused by a light mist that had formed in the wooded area

Equipment

This was shot on a Sony A99 with a Minolta 80 - 200 2.8 lens. It was shot hand held

Inspiration

I had been trying to capture a Red Deer Stag in the mist for sometime without much luck. Fortunately this visit I was able to find them in plenty of time which allowed me to watch the sun come up and create some very atmospheric images.

Editing

Very limited post processing, just some slight adjustment to levels and white balance

In my camera bag

My trusty A99 and a selection of lenses, depending on the type of image I am trying to create. A tripod and spare batteries. I try to travel as light as possible, because you never know how far you will be walking!

Feedback

My advice when capturing wildlife would be to make sure you know the habits of your intended subject. Try to shoot either very early or very late in the day to take advantage of the best natural light has to offer, and finally, patience!
