You have a great eye... i wish i knew what camera you were shooting with and what the setting where at for this shot. Not knowing i am going to guess it was the middle of the day since you were in Detroit and its an open shade situation from the other building around. That is giving you this flat lighting. I personally would have adjusted my exposure compensation to darken the shadows in the tops of the arches. this would increase the depth of and shape of the arch and added contrast to the entire shot. I would also consider a white balance change to shade to warm the tone of the entire shot. You can make the adjustments i mentioned in post production if you shot in raw, but it always better to get it right in camera. I do love this shot I have not been down into Detroit to shoot for a long time not my favorite place to go but it does have it's jems
