Location
This absolutely stunning church is located just outside of Edna, Texas in the beautiful Brackenridge Park. The Texana Church was built in 1859 in the original town of Texana. According to historical information this church was visited by Stephen F. Austin, among many other well known Texans.Time
I arrived at this beautiful location to capture a stunning country wedding. After the beautiful festivities I decided to stay behind and capture portraits of the church itself. It was approximately 45 minutes before the sun went down, the perfect time to capture this image.Lighting
The lighting was amazing! It was fall here in Texas so it was the perfect cloud cover, as well it being only about 45 minutes before the sun went down.Equipment
I used my old Nikon D3300 with 50mm lens. Did not use tripod nor a flash.Inspiration
I felt that the sweet country picket fence made beautiful leading lines toward this historic country church.Editing
I used curves to bring out the stunning green of the vegetation and photoshop to bring out the beauty of the sky to make the church stand out more.In my camera bag
I now have a Nikon D750 and always have my 35mm, 50mm and 70-200mm lenses ready to go.Feedback
Being that this location is in South Texas make sure to arrive later in the evening prior to starting of the sunset, to give you time for setup. Once the sun is out of view, start shooting. Be patient and schedule for a day with good cloud cover. This stunning country church is a somewhat hidden gem. Seek it out and capture it! You will definitely not regret it.
