A little information on the White Tiger . . . White tigers are not a separate species of tiger. They are a Bengal Tiger that has lost its pigmentation due to a condition called leucism. This is different than albino. An albino tiger would have no markings and pink eyes....not blue eyes. White tigers can and do occur in the wild but are rare for several reasons. Firstly, both parents of the offspring must carry the leucism gene. If one does not, the offspring will be of normal color. The second reason is predator attacks. Being white in the wild is not good camouflage. Most offspring would be spotted and killed by predators. Therefore the rarity.
