Elysian Fields is a conception of the afterlife that developed over time and was maintained by some Greek religious and philosophical sects and cults. Initially separate from the realm of Hades, admission was reserved for mortals related to the gods and other heroes. Later, it expanded to include those chosen by the gods, the righteous, and the heroic, where they would remain after death, to live a blessed and happy life, and indulging in whatever employment they had enjoyed in life. On the photo: Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. April 2016.

Time

About midnight?

Lighting

I love the city night lights. There is a kind of the neverending drama in which play two actors - the darkness and the light. I try to capture the most exciting moments of tension between them.

Equipment

Whatever.

Inspiration

On one rainy night, I was standing in front of the great Arc de Triomphe in Paris and I pressed the shutter button. And... actually we could finish a story in this moment. I walked back home drenched and tired went to sleep. Six years ago, I moved from a small town in the east of Poland to the biggest metropolis of France. A few years before, I completely lost my hearing. When you suddenly stop hearing anything, you get starting to see. More and more. Unexpectedly your attention finds a lot of situations and things that before you have not even guessed existed. You begin discover the new universe. First of all, photography, is a gift of looking, seeing, understanding, making sense of what you've seen and communicating it to others. This is a skill of showing to others the world as seen through your eyes and talking them about whithout a single word. This is an invitation to a dialogue with those who want to see yours photos, who want to see what you have seen. The invitation to take for a moment a part of my life, and living for a moment in my world. The world which I would share with you. Photograpfy is also the art of communication. The word "communicating" derived from the Latin word "comunicare", that has many similar meanings: to be in a relationship, to participate in, to associate. To be in "communio" ,  in a commonwealth. To be together. To not be alone.. I believe that my passion for the photography originates from a desire of true contact with others. And not really important if we are at the same time in the same place. The true contact is out of the time and out of the space. Regarding this photo taken on the Champs Elysees, I wrote a little about the place  in the description of the picture. Hou can find it if you want. Today, I might add, that we all are like shadows in underworld wandering in the afterlife. Slipping by so fast that sometimes no one can even noticed it. The 16th century founder of modern philosophy, René Descartes, said "I think therefore I am". Sometimes I'm saying:  "I see therefore,  I am". And always: I see you, therefore we are. "  We are together.

Editing
