2012. My first South East Asia experience and I land in this most amazing vibrant chaotic city. The people are incredible, despite a horrid turbulent history they are friendly, peaceful and kind people, who love their country and embrace (in the South anyway) travellers. They are so proud of their country. I was on a bus and this little boy and I caught each other's eye. He was so serious despite my hand-waves and smiles - his intensity continues to captivate me and I often look at this photo. I found it crazy how on the scooters parents wear helmets and kids don't as it may hurt their necks. I have never seen in any SEA country so many scooters! Their poverty blew me away as much as their gratefulness and big smiles.
