Mt. St. Helens 1994 (or so). We went up the mountain and every single viewpoint was fogged in completely...I felt like I was in the real-life T.S. Eliot's Wasteland. But we found this spot, where the ephemeral flowers were recovering. The trees felt like giant tombstones that someone had honoured with flowers.
