Location
This photograph is taken in Goulbourn, New South Wales in Australia. Someone managed to convince someone else that what this place really needs is a giant sheep.Time
I use 35mm so I don't have any EXIF data. I'll have to go from memory and the shadows in the image. I reckon it was mid-afternoon at about 3pm.Lighting
All natural light. I caught it just in time before the shadows got too heavy.Equipment
Nikon FM manual film camera with Nikkor 28mm lens. No tripod. No flash.Inspiration
When you stop at a petrol station that has a huge Merino sheep next to it, you'd be a fool to not photograph it. Australia has a whole series of Big Things across the country so I've always been on the lookout for them on any road trips. I can't really get my head around the fact that they actually exist. Who came up with the idea and who agreed to it? Do the locals love or hate it? I always leave these Big Things glad that they exist somewhere but grateful that their isn't one near where I live.Editing
I get all my film digitally scanned and then tinker around in Lightroom until I'm happy with the result. In my camera bag
If I'm going out especially to photography then I'll take my Manfrotto tripod and 3 lenses, but I always carry my Nikon FM and a couple of lenses with me where ever I go.Feedback
A fairly wide angled lens is helpful because these things really are big! This one is in a fairly industrial area so it's not easy to get the perfect angle without anything getting in the way. I had to cross a busy road and stand in the middle of a roundabout to avoid buildings and poles.
