Image was taken in Central Utah near Antimony, in the heart of Mormon country. I was searching for photo opportunities after a lengthy stay at Bryce. This was the only patch of clouds I saw for more than a week and I was chasing them. Wish that the image was facing west not east so I could of stayed for a sunset. There was a open gate and no one for miles. So I hiked in. It was when I heard a chain saw off in the distance that I left quickly back to my car. That's when I saw the no trespassing on the back of the gate. Anything for a image. I love the adventure of a treasure hunt. Landscapes need a focal point and old things like a truck make for nice compositions.Time
Late afternoon, like I said I was just traveling the day camping in Bryce. Bryce is a morning shoot, sunrise to about nine at least for the more open trailheads. Utah is very clean I was lucky to find this. Rarely see a junkyard in these small settlements.Lighting
Wish it was later in the day, but this was an opportunity shot that I could not miss.Equipment
Sony A65, Tamron 200 telephoto.. handheld. I always bracket and shoot in burst mode. This image was .arw file., I rarely shoot jpg's. It's as the camera saw the image.Inspiration
I'm alway's looking for this kind of image. There is a photographer on Viewbug by the name of Structor who show's images of this type of Iceland who I admire. I so desire to travel there. Some of his work is in my inspirational gallery.Editing
On this image there was little, except for changing the image from .arw to a jpg..In my camera bag
This was shot with a 200 telephoto tamron. Under 200 dollars. I used this same lense with my film camera many years ago. Nowadays I use a Sony 2.8 fisheye for most of my images. A 600 tamron for wildlife and it takes stunning closeup portraits. My best DOF lense. I'm in the market for an 75 to 200 zoom Art lense to replace my 200 telephoto. Any suggestions? Must work with a Sony A 68.Feedback
Take advantage of your free time. Explore. Visit local libraries. Research an area and talk to locals. Volunteer fire stations can be a good source of info too. It's fun to treasure hunt you never know what you may find.
