I went to Standing Rock, ND in September to bear witness to what was playing out between the Standihg Rock Sioux (and other nations) and Energy Transfer Partners. I arrived at the site where burial grounds had been bulldozed the weekend before and there was a procession walking on the road to the site for a prayer ceremony. The men on horses stood between the road and where the ceremony took place, almost as if in a line of protection.
