This tressel was used during the US Civil War 1861-1865. My 5gh Great grandfather was wounded jn the Battle of Petersburg, Va. He was transported by train to a hospital in Kittrell, NC 30 miles south of the tressel. He died there not from his wounds, but from pneumonia.
