At first glance I passed over this image, thinking to myself, "what a sad statement" but then I realized that this image is deserving for Image of the Year because of just that. It makes a statement and caused me to actually "think" and form an opinion based on emotion. It struck a chord with me and not one of those 'feel good' chords but one of 'shock'
Very bold and sobering image. I hope you win and / or at least make placement with this image.

I had a talk with a good friend of mine the other day about art and if and how it benefits others. I had a hard time answering that regarding my art and my first comment was that it wasn't really. "I'm just making photos pretty". She insisted going deeper and asked me to look harder. I realized that i tend to leave a certain gap for imagination in every photo I take and process, a gap that needs to be filled by the imagination of the viewer. That gap could be filled with a beautiful story or with an ugly story, but as long as it makes you use your imagination and attach an emotion to that photo then it succeeded. That was my last conclusion. Art is there to make us feel. Thank you very much for your comment, I highly appreciate it.
