Behind The Lens

Location

This is Cooper River Park in New Jersey.

Time

This was in the evening a little bit before Golden hour.

Lighting

I just wanted to create a warm and cozy type of feeling when looking at the picture since this was taken in Autumn. Also, how nice it is to just stop for a moment and taking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Equipment

Canon 7d, with a 100ml lens on a tripod. No flash all natural light.

Inspiration

I was following a prompt for school and it was 'golden hour' and since I got to the location early I saw this beautiful scene. It would have been such a waste not to take a picture so, I just did.

Editing

I try no to edit heavily especially with my nature photos. I just make the colors pop more by deepening the blacks and shadows while bringing out the highlights and adding a bit of a contrast. I want the audience to 'see' exactly what I saw and why it captured my attention.

In my camera bag

My bag changes often since I like to do a variety of genres so it really depends on the job. But usually I have one main body and two lens with one flash, a 4-way reflector, translucent powder(just in case my subject is too reflective) and ND filters.

Feedback

Take your time to scope out your location because it may hold a sight that you did not see before. Always have your camera ready at hand since it may pop up suddenly. And always enjoy what you are doing and never rush your process. Take as many photos as possible since you will never know which may become your favorite.
