St. Lawrence Church of Christ in Chicago was left to deteriorate for years before being deemed unsafe by the City and ordered to be torn down. Halfway through demolition, a petition to save the historic chapel haulted progress for another few years leaving the beautiful building standing in its own rubble when I found it.
