Mountain Summit

I rise early. Snow has fallen overnight and my curiousity gets the better of me and I want to see the land with the blanket of Winter covering it. As I drive I take it all in, the fresh snow, the roving clouds and of course the beloved land. Finally, I arrive at one of my favorite points but the morning sun hasn't crested yet and besides, the light is flat. I mount my trusty tripod, eyes to the sky and wait. Then, a change of plans and locations as I cross HW 167, careful not to get run over or slip on the ice. What a game of hurry up and wait as the morning clouds start to part, striking the mountains with their warm light and my battery light blinks...and dies. Are you kidding me? Now the race is on to see if I can replace the dead battery before the light moves on...and it will. Finally with a new battery ready I look up to see this beautiful, warm, light striking the mountains full force. View from the summit.
